Love Peace Harmony time with Family - A Message for the New Year!

Dear Reader

Happy Chinese New Years!  In Mandarin Chinese you can greet another person with
"Gong Xi Fa Cai, Xin Nian Kuai Le!".

From the time I was inside my mother's stomach waiting to be born,  I have loved Chinese New Years.  Imagine a baby inside listening to the exciting firecrackers go off in Chinatown, the clanging of the cymbals, and the banging of the Chinese Drums in a steady rhythm to lead the Lion Dance performances. To this day, my soul leaps with joy when I hear the Lion Dance music.

Enjoying a Chinese New Year Eve dinner is not only tradition in my family, but one that most Chinese families carry out.  We look forward to a time where it is expected that there are no arguments, no negative words, thoughts or deeds done. In China, the celebration is not only for a day or two.  It carries on for 5 days!

The dinner and what appears in the menu is very important and as well, how it is prepared.  The dishes that we enjoy carry individual Messages that help us for the rest of the year...

Nian Gao:
Translated into english, this is called Year Cake. The word 'Gao" sounds like the word "Tall" or "High". This brings us the message of "Achieving new heights in the New Year".

Oranges:
The word "orange" sounds like "gold" in Cantonese. To both eat and have the fruit displayed on an altar, is to bring wealth and luck.  If the orange has the stem and leaves still intact, that is even more prosperous! The leaves symbolize longevity.

Fish:
The Chinese word for fish 'Yu", sounds like the word for abundance.
It is important that the fish is served with the head and tail intact.  This is to ensure a good start and finish and to avoid bad luck throughout the year. My mom made two fish facing the opposite on the serving dish. She was trying to create a balance of yin/yang by having two whole fish.

Jai:
This vegetarian dish that is to purify and cleanse yourself with vegetables.  Mom made our dish this year with Sea moss for prosperity, Chinese black mushrooms to fulfill wishes from east to west, Lotus seed & root for seeds for children/birth of sons, and lettuce.

Overall, I am so grateful to share a bit of my insight with all of you!

Wishing you and your family, a Healthy, Happy, Love Peace Harmony New Year.

With love and blessings,
Brenda

A Time to Heal, A Time for Music - Happy Holidays!

Healing and Music have always gone hand in hand in my daily life.

Music and movement helps me transition through the day whether its a busy day of tasks or if I am needing to remove a negative emotion or thought.

In the morning I can listen to higher frequency songs for boosting my energy for the day.   Towards the evening, I begin listening to music with a more calm and slower beat so that the rest of my Mind and Body can start winding down.

In a way, this can be considered a very balanced music practice for both healing and rejuvenation of the Soul, Heart, Mind and Body.  When you have play loud or fast music, this is considered "Yang" energy.  When you play slow and gentle music, this is considered "Yin" energy.

Here's one of my favourite songs during the Holiday Season!

Best wishes for a Healthy, Happy and Harmonious new year!

with love and blessing,

Brenda

Service Xiu Lian for a Peaceful Heart

Hello dear blog readers,

There is a Yin and Yang in everything.  There is the more obvious Yin and Yang of Salt/Pepper, Hot/Cold, and also the Sun/Moon.   Today, I heard about Yin/Yang service related to Karma.  (Thank you, Master Hudoba!)

When you accomplish good service in the physical world, this good deed is then recorded in your personal Akashic Record book, up in Heaven's Library.  Each soul has a copy of an Akashic Record book, so you can imagine what Heaven's Library may look like, and how many Heaven's Library workers are there as well.

A subdivided copy of your Akashic record book can also be placed in your Message Centre or what is called the Heart Chakra.

Your akashic record book is your own personal book filled with both good and bad services in your previous life and your present lifetime.  Every thought, every word, every action is recording.

When you offer negative or harmful service to others, this service is also recorded in your book.

That is the Yin and that is the Yang of "Service Xiu Lian".  "Xiu Lian" is a term in mandarin Chinese for "Purification Process".   It's incredibly important to have both a pure and open heart when serving others.

If we all started to treat each other like we are Buddhas, then our world could be much more in Harmony.

What can we do?  We can sing or meditate to the song "Love Peace and Harmony", the longer the better but you may want start with 15 minutes.

Inner Peace through Meditation

What is Inner Peace? Wikipedia gives us the following:

  1. "Inner peace (or peace of mind) refers to a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress. Being "at peace" is considered by many to be healthy (homeostasis) and the opposite of being stressed or anxious."
  2. Reaching the physical, mental and true condition of true Inner Peace and Harmony, can be a great challenge for many new spiritual practitioners. Perhaps even finding the right practice or technique to reach that deep inner could take quite some time.
  3. I am blessed to have connected to a highly achieve spiritual teacher early on in my twenties.  After my first meditation class, I was hooked. I knew there would be no going back. I enjoyed going into the stillness in the mind and heart.  One of the simple to use techniques was using the Four Power Techniques.

Body Power: Place right hand over the heart chakra (Message Centre), left hand anchor to your lower abdomen below your navel.

Mind Power: Visualize bright golden light in your heart chakra, the light becomes a golden ball...

Soul Power: Use the "Say Hello" formula.

Dear Soul, Mind and Body of my Heart. I love you, honour you, respect you. You have the power to open fully, to receive love and light bring Inner Peace.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you..

Sound Power: Chant the following Mantra for 2 minutes out loud, than another 3 minutes silently.

Then say "Hao! Hao! Hao! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you".

with love and gratitude,

Brenda

Energy! (Part 2) 100 Days of Purity to gain Inner Peace

Success!

I've had the experience of passing my 100 Days of Purity, with success and at the same time, slight challenges along the way.  No spiritual journey is totally smooth, of course.

We are here to learn from our mistakes and experiences both in the past and the present.
We are all here at this time, to move forward on the path to Enlightenment and Peace.

"Bai Ru Zhu Ji", can be web-searched as a "Taoist meditation practice - 100 Days to Lay the Foundation".  To expand further, we can call it a highly advanced spiritual practice for one hundred days to build a foundation for your body.

*This is referred to in Master Sha's book "Tao II: The Way of Healing, Rejuvenation, Longevity, and Immortality".

What are the benefits of doing this practice, and Why should we do this?

Simple!  Have you ever felt so exhausted after hearing a long-winded conversation? How about wishing for more energy after a long day at work?

With this special technique and practice, you can prevent sickness, re-build your energy levels and even have glowing skin. Learn more about these sacred and secret techniques and practices in the coming weeks.

with love,

Brenda
